Soap Rest

A soap rest is a solid wooden platform with a raised or ridged surface that elevates your bar soap above moisture while providing a stable, elegant resting place. Like our soap ladder, it allows water to drain away and air to circulate so your bar dries properly between uses. The soap rest has a more refined, decorative feel — it's as much a bathroom accessory as it is a functional tool. The soap ladder has a more open, minimal design suited for the shower shelf. Both extend the life of your soap significantly.

Our soap rests are made from wood and are available in three styles — Charred Wood, Light Wood, and Red Alder — each with its own distinctive character. Charred wood has a dramatic, dark finish. Light wood is clean and natural. Red Alder has a warm reddish tone with beautiful natural grain. All three are crafted for durability and everyday use.

Our Charred Wood and Light Wood soap rests measure 4.5in long by 3.25in wide. Our Red Alder soap rest is slightly smaller at 4in long by 2 7/8in wide. All sizes comfortably fit our standard 5oz Private Oaks bar soaps.

Yes — significantly. When soap sits in standing water it absorbs moisture and dissolves from the bottom up, wasting a meaningful portion of the bar. Elevating your soap on a rest allows it to fully drain and dry between uses, preserving its shape and extending its life. It's one of the simplest upgrades you can make to your daily routine.

Rinse and dry your soap rest periodically to prevent soap residue buildup. Avoid leaving it submerged in standing water for extended periods to preserve the wood finish. A quick wipe down once a week keeps it clean and looking its best.
